On Oct. 3, 2022, Twinkle the Earth Initiative hosted women to a Plant & Sip event in Lagos State. As the name implies, participants were engaged in a hands-on organic planting session as they sipped ice tea. The event was organized to create environmental awareness and to encourage the participants to tap from the benefits of gardening. The women learnt the importance of nutrition relevant to their age and gender before proceeding to plant Dill herbs. They were also charged to do their part in the fight against environmental degradation and climate change. The event ended with a bonus tip on oral/dental care as each participant went home with their plants, spray bottles and a brochure.

Organic gardening is simple, cost-effective and therapeutic. It can be done indoors or outdoors. The Executive Director of Twinkle the Earth Initiative, Dr. Temidayo O. Enetanya, implored the participants to care for their plants as they would care for themselves. She affirmed that gardening is a great way to improve air quality, regulate local temperature, reduce the use of chemicals, protect biodiversity, and access fresh vegetables and herbs.
