A TWEIN Creative Writing and Arts Competition

Imagine it! Create it! Win It!

Theme:
Solutions to Plastic Pollution

Write or draw your way to NGN50,000.
The competition is in three categories: short story, poetry and visual arts. Each should engage the theme: Solutions to Plastic Pollution.

Prizes will be awarded to winners on the 5th of June, 2023 in commemoration of the World Environment Day 2023.

Who can enter? Youths aged 18-25 years.

Submission Dates: April 15 to May 5, 2023.

Guidelines
Category A: Short Story
The story should be based on the theme: Solutions to Plastic Pollution.

Attention should be paid to the beauty of words and creative application of environmental preservation ideas in a fictional construct.

Must be an original and unpublished work.

Authors will retain the copyright for submitted entries, but TWEIN reserves the right to publish winning entries in any medium.

Word Limit: 1000 words
Format: Typed, double-spaced.
The title of the story and author name should appear on the first page.


Category B: Poetry
All entries are judged anonymously and the poet's name must not appear on the poem itself.

Poem can be divided into stanzas but must not exceed 15 lines ( excluding the title)
Poems must be the entrant's original work
Rhymes, rhythms, imagery should be intelligently applied.
All poems must be written in English
Do not use capital letters in writing the poem or begin a line with capital letter.


Category C: Visual Arts
The artist should use their drawing, painting and/or illustration skills to bring to life the theme: Solutions to plastic pollution.
Submission should include:
A pdf or jpg of artwork. In the description, include medium & size
A short introduction about yourself:
- Your Name, where you are based, a few words about your project and/or artistic practice + link to website/instagram or similar if you have.

All candidates are welcome to submit artworks, but we are looking for creatives with a genuine interest in the environment, whose artwork show clear, unique and relevant ideas.
